This was a talkative movie, which you would expect for a film about political back room drama. She was not called the Iron Lady for nothing. This portrays her as always seeing herself as right and unbending in her style. Perhaps she had to be to remain in power so long in what had up until then been a man’s game. She of course was a pal of President Reagan and showed the same disdain for the unhealthy. But thanks to universal health care over there, she wasn’t able to quite duplicate Reagon’s dismantling of the middle class. I thought Sylvia Syms did a fine job with the role, showing Thatcher’s steely personality but also glimpses of her charisma. She seemed to overshadow the flock of lesser MP’s around her. Perhaps that is what she did at the time.
