Great interesting documentary on a little-known detail of another Northwest contribution to important U.S. history and industry. Who knew that the small city of Bellingham, WA was responsible for the majority of minesweepers, and later, Vietnam era PT riverboats? Fascinating stuff. Shipyard presents history laced with plenty of human interest, which makes for the best historical interpretation. This isn't simply the tale of production history at a shipyard, but the story of the men, and their families, who worked the 'yard, making it a backbone of the local community for many years. As is the case in most stories behind the history, the main man (in this case, the founder of the Bellingham Shipyard) is an interesting character in his own right. Check out the doc to see what I mean!
